About UsFremu was conceived as a global project, it was established by two community leaders from Latin America and the Caribbean, with partners in France, Nepal, the Philippines, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. The organisation was set up with the broad aim of enabling communities to better act on the causes that matter to them.
The word ‘fremu’ traces back to Old English, meaning ‘to do good’. In Swahili, it means ‘frame; connecting pieces to hold something together’. Both meanings embody our Vision and our approach to achieving it. We aim to do good by connecting and holding communities together. We want them to be able to make the most of their potential for sustained development. |
